A class to acquaint all level of students with important aspects of life drawing. Students draw from the model. An understanding of the role of life drawing in the visual arts will be explored through contemporary and historical examples. A variety of drawing techniques will be taught using wet and dry media including charcoal, pencil, and ink. Students are encouraged to try various approaches to drawing the figure. Experimentation and self-directed projects will be encouraged especially for more advanced students. Formal concerns dealing with value, space, light and proportion will be examined. Discussions will be held relating to historical, modern and contemporary drawings. Examples of these works will be presented to the class through reproductions. There will be critiques of student work on a regular basis.
